Luxury Cruise Ships are Back Led by Celebrity Apex
Many upscale cruises lines are back in full-force post COVID. Leading the way is Celebrity Cruises headed by their dynamic President and CEO Lisa Lutoff-Perlo. Last month, she launched their latest luxury ship Celebrity Apex. Lutoff-Perlo welcomed the ship’s Godmother Reshma Saujani, founder of the non-profit Girls Who Code organization to join her in the naming ceremony and christening of Celebrity Apex.
COVID 19 Measures
Reluctant post-pandemic cruisers will appreciate that Apex has been retrofitted with upgraded HVAC filters designed to continuously supply fresh, filtered air to all spaces in the ship. All passengers must present a valid negative COVID test within 48 hours of embarkation. Additionally, guests are screened for COVID by security and must show proof of full vaccination prior to boarding.
A Retreat for All Suite Guests
Apex offers an exclusive part of the ship for its luxury passengers called The Retreat. This all-inclusive oasis features a sun deck area and bar at the bow of the ship with stunning views. It boasts an elegant indoor lounge with gourmet bites and libations. Last, but certainly not least, is Luminae, a private restaurant with panoramic views, epicurean menus and signature dishes by their Global Culinary Ambassador Chef Daniel Boulud.
Retail Therapy at Sea
LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton’s retailer for cruise ships, Starboard has curated a fine selection of prestigious brands to occupy the 7,000+ square feet of retail space located conveniently mid-ship on decks four and five.
Montblanc launched its first ever lifestyle boutique at sea with a ribbon-cutting ceremoy during the launch. The honors were done by Captain Dimitrios Kafetzis of Celebrity Apex. Other inaugural shops for Celebrity include the Greek artisan collection from Konstantino Jewelry, KMO Paris’ French jewelry boutique, and Hereu, specialty Spanish handbags designed by locals inspired by the eclectic arts of the Mediterranean.
What Goes Around Comes Around offers shoppers a chance to purchase vintage luxury items via their responsible resale approach. You might find an unforgettable, one-of-a-kind Chanel or Louis Vuitton handbag, scarf or accessory souvenir thanks to this concept.
Suite Amenities
Elite travelers booking suites appreciate the luxury amenities like impeccable service that begins from the moment of booking. Each suite comes with a Personal Retreat Host (Concierge) that works with passengers 30 days prior to sailing confirming preferences for dining and beverages. In addition, transportation arrangements and priority shore excursion bookings can be arranged through the Retreat Hosts. Closer to boarding, they also walk guests through the expedited boarding process.
Upon arrival at the cruise terminal, suite guests are greeted at their own check-in area with a bar serving cocktails, coffee and refreshments that make the process quick and painless. During the stay, suite guests’ needs are attended to with personalized butler services – everything from scheduling spa appointments and ensuring your refrigerator is stocked with your favorite libations to booking private shopping experiences at the Cartier and Bvlgari boutiques.
Room amenities include eXhale® bedding, king CashmereTM mattresses, and Frette robes and slippers. Premium drinks, streaming Wi-Fi, tips, a shore excursion credit and an onboard credit to be used anywhere on board are all-inclusive with suites. The top 14 suites like the Iconic Suite have, in addition, other amenities including the ability to host dinners and receptions catered by private chef.

With the launch of Celebrity Apex, safety and luxury go hand-in-hand. Guests can feel tranquil cruising to exotic ports where the excellent service and exceptional dining coupled with pampering spa treatments and adventurous port excursions round out the fun for a wonderful respite from COVID.
